At hj-duo, music extends our creative practice beyond the visual and the physical. We explore sound as a material — something that moves through space, interacts with objects and connects people with their surroundings.
Led by James’s musical practice and shaped by our shared curiosity, our sound explorations move between instrumental music, improvisation, and experimental sound experiences.
We enjoy bringing unexpected elements into conversation: a guitar, the resonance of metal, the movement of rice, ambient sounds and the acoustics of a place. Everyday materials and familiar gestures can become unexpected musical expressions, revealing new ways of listening and experiencing the world.
